Your children may not understand your delight about a “sour and stinky fluid, existing in a white and red variety”. They also may have a problem in following your enthusiastic outburst regarding a piece of chicken (without that known tasty crust) cooked in that strange fluid. They will then not understand your wish to come back to this region offering these ugly things (followed by the uncontrolled enthusiasm), but you can give them something that gives you the chance to get your fruity dry Riesling again and re-visit the tiny restaurant where you ate that galactic Coq au Riesling!
Activities for Children The Alsace gives you a wide range of opportunities to entertain your children. First of all, they will find space to run around in a fresh and unspoilt area. Making a “nature tour” within the mountains, topped by a middle-of-the-meadow picnic (no Riesling, no Coq!), followed by a visit to an old knights’ castle, where lots of interesting stories are told would only one of many possible excursions. Visit a Ferme Auberge in the Vosges mountains, it will give (you and) your children the chance to get in touch with farm animals. Big advantage: If you are very discreet you may quickly call in at the inn and have a glass of Riesling while your children are busy outside. Not to forget the wintertime in the Vosges mountains: Sledging, snow ball battles, snow man or snow castle building or a night walk in the snow (it becomes dark early- you will be back for the Coq).
There are many more things to do with children, including visits to some of the town and museums. Children will be attracted the same way as you are by the Vacation Land Alsace, and perhaps, in a few years, they come back with their children to have some Pinot noir and game? The exploration continues in Le Blanc Parc d'Aventure locted in the green forest, the Ecomusée d'Alsace in Ungersheim or Naiads' aquarium park in Ottrott – you and your children will find everything to satisfy your thirst for adventure and your curiosity.
