Good, better, Alsace!

ImageHiking, cycling, mountain biking, fishing, paragliding, skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoe walking …do you want more activities or would that be fine for the moment? Whether you visit the Alsace in the summertime or in the deepest winter, different sports are widely possible.

Cycling

ImageEvery Alsatian region, whether it is the plain of the river Rhine, the vineyards or the mountains and valleys of the Vosges – everything have their own, origin characteristic, which it is anytime worth exploring. Easier but not less interesting is a cycling tour in the plains or by the river Rhine, visiting some quiet villages in rural Alsace. For more ambitious cyclists the vineyards provides you hilly tracks with fabulous views of the plains and marvelous cozy villages along the Alsatian Wine Road. Resting places for a snack are also included as well wine cellars for a wine tasting. The really sporty cyclist will climb whether with the mountain bike on little tracks as well as the racing cyclist on winding narrow roads through the highest mountains. Enjoy a ride on the Vosges mountains’ ridge providing you with breathtaking view into the valley and the surrounding mountains. With a little luck you will see far in south the white giants of the alps.

Wintersports

ImageThe Vosges mountains with their height of more than 1400 m allows a wide variety of winter sports. More than 170 lifts, some equipped with snow making machines and lighting for night-time slopes, which gives you a complete new feeling of skiing down  white. For those who enjoy the more quiet cross country skiing about 600 miles of marked and groomed trails are provided, leading you through the unspoilt nature of the white winter mountains. But still this can be topped, in the case of quietness and loneliness. Snowshoeing brings you completely untouched areas where only you and the nature are present. Perhaps you will find evidence of a lynx, which has been reintroduced to the Alsace within the last ten years.

Something  special might be a day of dog sledding, anyway, as you can see: the possibilities are varied. But maybe you just want to have a walk through the deeply snowed winter landscape where the sound of your steps are completely deadened and your mind becomes more and more calm. You then will end a perfect day in the nature by a real  Gluehwein (mulled wine) warming you up, giving you a feeling of absolute well-being!

For the best access to these activities we recommend to you first of all Lapoutroie, located within the mountains and the best basis combined with an extraordinary scenic hotel.

Other activities

ImageSome of you are a bit more adventurous and like to discover the Alsace from above. No problem, the Vosges are a well-known spot for paragliding, with several starting points. Too dangerous? A more quiet and relaxing activity is necessary? Well, go fishing. This is a nearly national activity in France, and the best thing in the Alsace is, that you can also do it from the plain up to the top of the mountains with their scenic lakes. To be honest, it would be too lengthy to list adventurous or relaxing activities. If you want to learn more give us call, let us know your favourites and we will find a way to fulfill your wishes. Everybody will find an opportunity to make their holiday unique or we will do it for you.

Generally, all our destinations could be used for these activities, but in case of easy access some of them are more suitable than others. Lapoutroie for example is the location for all activities in the mountains. Others like Turckheim, Niedermorschwihr, Trois Epis, Ottrott, Itterswiller, Riquewihr, all located at or near the Alsatian Wine Road, are also suitable for mountain actions, but also for other activities.
